The ninth annual Athens Surf Stomp is congregating a diverse lineup of surf rockers to call in the summer season. Surf Stomp refuses to let surf rock be shoehorned, with each act bringing its own unique take on the genre, from jubilant instrumentals to post-apocalyptic iterations. This year’s performers include returning acts Genki Genki Panic, a horror-surf outfit from Chattanooga, surf and hot rod combo The Frigidaires, the enigmatic Mystery Men?, instrumental band The Spectre of Surf, The Creature Preachers’ swampy surf rock and Kinky Waikiki’s relaxing steel guitar tunes. Serf Lords and Ex-Gentlemen will also be joining the lineup. DJ Nate from Wuxtry Records and DJ Kurt Wood will be spinning records between sets to keep the fun going.
