Local legend Kevin Barnes is returning to Athens to perform with their longtime musical project, of Montreal. The band is known for intricate and compelling live performances, complete with alter egos represented by idiosyncratic costumed dancers and unpredictable setlists that pull from dozens of albums and EPs released over the past 27 years. Of Montreal is touring in support of its most recent album, Lady on The Cusp, which is a meeting of past and future, all through the lens of Barnes’ unique multifaceted pop style. This release works as a sort of reintroduction to the band amidst a new chapter of Barnes’ life; much of the album was recorded solo right before a move by the Athenian to a quieter space in Vermont. Godcaster, a Brooklyn-based rock band that is similarly known for its maximalist live shows, will be opening the show.
