White Denim is raucous, freewheeling and unafraid of experimentation, acting as what The Guardian writer Kitty Empire calls “something of a left-field institution, pumping out wired guitar music that oscillates between exhilarating math-rock (at their most jazz) and machine funk boogie (at their most danceable).” The band formed in a rather roundabout way, originally merging four members from across two bands who happened to find themselves on the same bill in 2005, then later becoming the trio called White Denim when one member moved to Russia in 2006. Today, the five-piece band is led by original members James Petralli on vocals and guitar and Steve Terebecki on bass. The band’s eclectic rock sensibilities have earned it chart success both domestically and overseas and even the opportunity to tour with Wilco. Opening the show is Klark Sound, an Atlanta-based musician whose folk- and prog-influenced sound captures what he describes as “pastoral nostalgia.”
