Calendar Pick: The Comedy of Errors

UGA Theatre presents The Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeare’s earliest efforts and perhaps one of his most comical. It centers on two sets of twins separated at birth. One set of twins, in the quest to find the other, arrives in a town where everyone seems to know them. As the name suggests, a comedy of errors centering around mistaken identity follows. “Identity” is also the theme of UGA Theatre’s current season. “The play makes a point to determine the identities of its characters based on where they’re from or what they do—or how other people think of them,” said Jeremiah Albers, director of the production. “It’s evocative of the ways in which societal status is determined, intentionally or not, by measuring our worth based on what we ‘contribute’ or where we’re from.” The show will run evenings on Nov. 10–12 and Nov. 16–19 at 8 p.m., with a 2:30 p.m. matinee showing on Nov. 20.
