Calendar Pick: Tim Cappello

Since its invention by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s, the saxophone has held a unique hold over the human mind. The instrument perfectly encapsulates the solo performer, and there are few images stronger in the popular music canon than the lone, sexy sax player. Whether it’s Careless Whisper or Kenny G, the saxophone is key. So, when director Joel Schumacher released his 1987 dark comedy vampire film The Lost Boys with a scene featuring a muscle-bound saxophone player ripping a solo at an outdoor party, it sent both the film and the player into cult stardom. Tim Cappello, the player in question, is a classically trained musician with a laundry list of famous collaborators, and he’s gracing our little town once more at Flicker. The Lost Boys will be screened prior to the live show, which begins at 9 p.m.
