Although the current Athens Chautauqua Society was established in 2019, it is a rebirth of the local group formed in 1914 and part of a 150-year-old movement. The group’s vision is to cultivate learning culturally, intellectually, spiritually and recreationally through performances and lectures. This week the society presents a dramatic rendering of “Jacqueline Kennedy: First Lady of Grace and Style,” a family-friendly reenactment introducing the private woman behind the public myth performed by Leslie Goddard. The audience will enter 1964 and witness the former first lady share stories from her life as she struggles to cope with a sea of paparazzi.
