UK comedian, writer and actor David McIver presents a one-man show called “Teleport,” a comedic adventure into the fantastical dimension of Realms of Warquest, a massively multiplayer online-roleplaying game. Performing as a character who represents the teenage version of himself, McIver embarks on a journey to slay a dragon in order to gain the ability to teleport. Influenced by a challenging real-life period during his adolescence in which immersive gaming offered a much-needed distraction, the show touches on themes of escapism, loneliness and connection. Leaning on the characteristics of roleplaying culture, the hourlong performance mixes in plenty of props and side quests.
