In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing, the library will host an afternoon of cosmic activities. David Cotten, of UGA’s Small Satellite Research Laboratory, will give a presentation on the NASA CubeSats program, followed by a discussion by UGA physicist Loris Magnani on the subject of manned space exploration. The 2019 documentary Apollo 11 will begin screening around 2:30 p.m., offering never-before-seen footage from NASA’s archives. Unusual in that it contains no voice-over narration, recent interviews or simulations, the film involved cataloging over 11,000 hours of audio recordings and hundreds of hours of video. Following the film, a raffle will give away 3D printed models of lunar modules.
