Selected as the one Sunday of the year this year that bars are allowed to be open in Athens under state law, this St. Patrick’s Day will see a first annual festival full of music, food and merchandise vendors, beer gardens and children’s activities. Performers on the outdoor stage include Dixie-Jade, Brendan O’Hara, Megan Moroney, DJ RX, James Klenser, Ben Wilson, DJ Ladarius, DJ Timmy G and the Carpenter Academy of Irish Dance. Bars can open as early as 1 p.m., and a pub crawl along Clayton Street will start at 4 p.m., with participating businesses offering special deals to patrons who wear event T-shirts.
