The Bright Light Social Hour, Wanderwild, Sea Moya

Austin, TX four-piece The Bright Light Social Hour has been operational since 2004, and its sound has morphed since then from arty hardcore to glammy Southern psych to Floydian dream-rock, as heard on the band’s 2015 LP, Space Is Still the Place. The group has scaled back the bombast and widened its lens on the curious, empathetic Jude Vol. 1, out last month via Modern Outsider. The album, to be followed by another dubbed Jude Vol. 2, is a tribute to the band’s manager and bassist Jackie O’Brien’s brother, Alex, who killed himself in 2015 after a battle with bipolar disorder. Local indie-pop outfit Wanderwild and German psych duo Sea Moya open Wednesday’s show.
