New South Showcase

Athens guitarist and songwriter Caroline Aiken’s intimate monthly concert showcase—recorded at Vega Studio on Milledge and taped for broadcast on local public radio—has added a charitable component to its last two editions, with part of the proceeds going to assist local musician and concert photographer Chris McKay, who is battling a serious illness and associated medical bills. Performers at Sunday’s gathering include Atlanta psych-rock concern Sunshine Slowdown, The Spinoffs Reenactment Society, pop-rock guru Jay Gonzalez, Jason NeSmith and Kay Stanton of Casper and the Cookies, and hip-hop mainstay Elite tha Showstoppa.
