The Flicker Film Society is in full force, screening cult classics that time tried hard to forget. On Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., local illustrator Joey Weiser presents Truck Yaro 5: Truckstar of Guts, a 1977 Japanese comedy-action film starring tough-guy truckers. On Monday at 8 p.m., Showdown at the Equator presents Furious, a 1984 David Lynch-esque karate flick where heroes battle aliens for control of the astral plane. Other activities this month include Killer Animal Movie Trivia on Aug. 20 followed by a screening of the 1981 nightmare Piranha 2: The Spawning, and Ghastly Horror Society Trivia on Aug. 27 followed by the 1974 mutant baby tale It’s Alive.
