Fart Jar Album Release Show

Whether you think Fart Jar is the best band name in town or the worst—this reporter is as yet undecided—the group is one of Athens’ finest purveyors of noisy, no-holds-barred rock and roll, as evidenced by a pummeling recent SlopFest set. You wouldn’t necessarily know it from listening to last year’s This Is Not a Drill, a home-recorded, eight-song glob of an album that seemed more stoned goof than proper LP. Let’s hope the band’s new record, which it celebrates with a release show Friday at the Caledonia, more accurately reflects its all-enveloping sludgefest of a show. Fellow chaos-causers Apparition, Dead Vibes Ensemble and Backmask share the bill.
