Javae Album Release Party

Eschewing trendy trap and mumble-rap in favor of a rich, reflective sound, Athens emcee Javae Chapman is set to release a new album, We Outside, Saturday. He’ll celebrate with a shindig at Nuçi’s Space Friday evening, featuring a live performance and the local premiere of the full LP, plus free food and drinks and an art installation. The record’s early singles are thick with boom-bap atmosphere but retain a contemporary vibe thanks to their stoned-out tempos and abstracted instrumentals. Along with girlfriend Raina Zafar, Chapman heads up EATYOURGREENZ, an art and music collective focused on “tapping into your higher self and feeding yourself right physically, mentally and spiritually,” according to Zafar.
