Kicking off the new season of Artists in Residence, WUGA invites guests into the home, studio, sculpture garden and gallery space of Leonard Piha. Both a painter and sculptor, Piha taught art to students at Barnett Shoals Elementary School for 21 years. His formal art training and a background in carpentry are often reflected in his choice of materials: rusted sheets of tin that are cut into silhouettes, and unusual canvases that are built out of cast-off pieces of wood. Michael Cardin will broadcast an interview with Piha prior to the event. Event proceeds benefit the public radio station, and reservations can be made by contacting 706-542-9842 or bradberry@uga.edu.
