Fifty of Russia’s brightest ballet stars will perform the timeless tale of Swan Lake accompanied by one of Tchaikovsky’s most famous scores. Inspired by Russian folk tales, the four-act story follows Odette, a princess who has been turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer’s curse that can only be broken by her finding eternal love. The Moscow-based company, founded by former prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet, Maya Plissetskaya, will perform the original choreography created over a century ago. The Performing Arts Center will host a free pre-concert lecture at 7:15 p.m. prior to both performances.
