Originally created to commemorate the ninth anniversary of the Kent State murders, the Human Rights Festival has grown into a two-day festival dedicated to promoting free speech and confronting issues that challenge human rights. Throughout the day, local activists and members of various community organizations including Casa de Amistad, Undocumented Students Alliance, GLOBES and Community Connection will take the main stage to discuss important social and political topics facing the community. In between speakers will be live music performances from the likes of The Plague, Lowdive, The Heap, Odd Trio and Kick the Robot. As always, information booths will line the streets, and kids activities will be available. This year features the new addition of an artist market. This free festival is from 10 a.m.–12 a.m. on Saturday and 2–9 p.m. on Sunday.
