Five & Ten will host a barbecue-themed Athens Chefs Dinner on Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m., with chefs from The Branded Butcher, Seabear, Heirloom Cafe, Pulaski Heights BBQ, The National, home.made, Five & Ten and elsewhere cooking up 10 courses. On Aug. 7 from 4:30–8 p.m., My Athens is helping throw a release party for Terrapin’s new Watermelon Gose (which, whatever your feelings about the local company’s sale, is a delicious summer beer). Restaurants, including Seabear, Catch 22, Ideal Bagel, the Savory Spoon, Panaderia Tacuari and The Place will supply watermelon-themed dishes. Treehouse is doing crafts for kids, and there will be water balloons and lawn games. Money raised from ticket sales ($35 for 21 and up, which gets you 36 ounces of beer and some food from each vendor; $20 for ages 13–20; free for 12 and under) helps out Athens Farmers Market and the West Broad Farmers Market. Tickets are available online or at the door.
