Upcoming Food Events: Summer Agro Cycle Tour, Cold Brew and More

Via Georgia Food Tours

It seemed like we took a little breather in June from the cavalcade of food events, but now they’re ramping up again. Here’s some of what’s coming up over the next month:

  • Georgia Food Tours is running its Summer Agro Cycle Tour Sunday (July 13). It’s a 15-mile ride round-trip, broken into 5-mile intervals, and runs from 8 a.m.–3 p.m., with lunch (tomato sandwiches and local beer) at Sweet Olive Farm in Winterville. The other two farms on the tour are Mills Farm (where Red Mule Grits are made) and Full Moon Farm/Woodland Gardens. If you want to tour (BYO cycle) and have lunch it’s $42 in advance, $50 day-of. Lunch only is $10 in advance, $12 day-of. Tickets can be purchased online here.
  • The ACC Library is hosting a program called “Meat and Three: Athens Food Scene Then and Now” on July 24 at 7 p.m. Milton Leathers and Lee Epting will talk about restaurants past (e.g., Poss’ Barbeque), then Mary Charles Howard of Georgia Food Tours will follow with a contemporary view of food trends and local restaurants. If you can’t make it in person, you can stream the program live at RSLathens.org or watch it later, but those who haul themselves over to the Appleton Auditorium can register to win a $50 gift certificate for Heirloom Café and an Heirloom Café t-shirt.
