Normal Bar, The National and The World Famous are among the 100 best bars in the South, according to Southern Living.
One could certainly quibble with this list. (Where’s Manhattan? Isn’t The National really more of a restaurant? Why would I order anything other Bulleit and Blenheim’s at Normal Bar? How much did Bain pay to get two of his bars included?) And I’m sure many will. Have at it in the comments.
UPDATE: Some folks misconstrued this post as questioning whether these bars deserve to be on the list. That wasn’t the case; I was saying that it’s the type of thing that would incite a lot of arguments over people’s favorite bars and drinks (which it did). To the honorees, congratulations on the recognition.
