Juice Up Coming Downtown, One Café in Old Hendershot’s

The space that is probably still most fondly remembered as 283 Bar and that has been a series of bars since is about to focus on healthy living instead of debauchery.

Juice Up: The Original Juice Cafe looks to open at 283 Broad St. fairly soon. Juice is the next fro-yo, and Juice Up aims to offer smoothies as well for those looking to consume their nutrition in liquid form.

The former Hendershot’s, at 1560 Oglethorpe Ave., next to the Westside Transmet, is almost done with its transformation into One Café, a coffee shop that will pour 1000 Faces coffee, serve fancy tea, do breakfast and lunch of some sort and is connected at least somewhat to One Church, whose director of outreach, Seth Edmonds, is involved with the new venture.

The Facebook page for One Café is a slightly better bet than the website (which was up and running last night but down at the time of this posting) for up-to-date info, including photos of what’s been going on with paint.

A permit application has been submitted for 493 E. Clayton, in the old Bluebird space, for a restaurant to be called Athens Wok.
