Independent Baking Co. Is Open, White Tiger Ends Brunch Buffet and More

White Tiger is changing up its brunch a little, switching this weekend from a buffet to an a la carte service. The hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, with lots of vegetarian and vegan options, plus BBQ Benedict (biscuit, bbq pork, sausage gravy, over-easy egg). The full menu is available after noon those days.

Thom Leonard’s Independent Baking Co. opened for business for real at 7 a.m. today. They’ve got bread, pastries, muffins (supposedly) and 1000 Faces Coffee.

Broad Street Coffee will have its last day of service in its current location and with its current name on Sunday, Aug. 25, with a closing party at 6:30 p.m. that day. It will reopen on an unspecified date in the fairly near future at 255 W. Washington St. in the former Farm 255 as Echo.

Mark your calendar for the Athens Farmers Market’s 3rd annual Autumn Harvest Feast fundraising dinner, Sunday, Oct. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Hill. Proceeds benefit the SNAP-doubling program in connection with Wholesome Wave. Chefs have yet to be announced, but the list has always been nice in previous years.

The newest chain scheduled to open in the West Washington parking deck is Brixx: Wood Fired Pizza, out of Charlotte, N.C. Menus are here.

Insomnia Cookies is officially open downtown, but SunO Dessert is closed.

The Normaltown Pizza Hut is moving to Barber Street, where everything seems to be happening these days.

New Belgium’s Clips Beer and Film Tour (beer tastings, short films, proceeds to Bike Athens) is returning to the Lyndon House on Sept. 6.
