If you’ve been champing at the bit for Pulaski Heights BBQ to open in the Leathers Building on Pulaski Street, you are assuredly not alone. Chuck Ramsey’s restaurant is doing a soft opening at 5 p.m. tonight, opening also Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the same time until food runs out. The menu isn’t full yet (pulled pork, chicken, a couple of sides, bourbon, a few beers, some wine), there’s no to-go option at the moment (dine-in only), and it’s too cold to sit outside, but full menu and real hours start Tuesday. Lunch Tuesday to Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner Sunday to Thursday, 5 to 10 p.m., and until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The space at the Pulaski end of the building, home to a catering business until recently, has undergone a serious transformation, with Michael Songster building out a full kitchen, putting in a lovely poured-concrete bar and more. Trains pass by somewhat regularly, but should add some distinctive charm, even if you have to pause your conversation for a minute.
