A Local Company Will Be on ‘Shark Tank’ Tonight

Umano co-founder Jonathan Torrey designs T-shirts with a group of Peruvian children.

A business started by two UGA graduates will be featured on the reality TV show “Shark Tank” tonight.

Umano (profiled by Flagpole in 2012) donates 51 percent of its profits to schools in impoverished countries. It was founded by brothers Jonathan and Alex Torrey.

On “Shark Tank,” entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to a group of investors that includes Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who then decide whether to fund the projects. It airs at 9 p.m. on ABC.
