Walking Across America

Kevin Dahl stopped by the Flagpole office Tuesday to tell us about his walk across America to raise awareness of healthy living. The recent Florida State University graduate calls his campaign “Dahl Across America,” and he’s raising money for Project Fitness America. “Basically, PFA uses its resources to promote physical activity in children. They work with schools and communities to train teachers, add to the current physical activity curriculum, purchase indoor and outdoor equipment and purchase and refine testing and evaluation materials.”

Kevin started in Myrtle Beach, and he’s headed for California by way of Rome, GA. He’s walking along the shoulder of the road (not on interstates). He’s camping in his tent or staying with families he meets along the way or who have agreed ahead of time to let him stop with them. He’s spending a couple of days in Athens before heading out toward Bethlehem, GA. Take a look at his Facebook page and his web page, dahlacrossamerica.org. Say hello if you see Kevin around town.
