Athens-Clarke County Mayor Kelly Girtz is running for a second term, he announced Thursday.
“We are creating a healthier, more prosperous Athens, with greater housing and employment opportunities, and a better place to raise our young people,” Girtz said in a campaign video shared on social media.
Girtz was elected to the ACC Commission in 2006, serving three terms before running for mayor in 2018. He defeated two other candidates with 60% of the vote.
Girtz has no announced opposition. Qualifying will take place Mar. 7-11, and the election is scheduled for May 24.
