In the early ‘90s, two rival alt-rock bands in Michigan decided to join forces, and The Verve Pipe was born. After releasing its first two albums independently, the band signed with RCA Records and released 1996’s Villains, containing radio hit “Photograph” and #1 single “The Freshmen.” Following this commercial success, the band embarked on multi-continental tours, had music featured on TV and in film, made appearances on late night television, received critical acclaim from outlets like Spin and Rolling Stone and even forayed into the world of children’s music for two albums. Decades later The Verve Pipe is still at it, having recently released a new record called Reconciled and announced a tour of the Southern U.S. Opening its show in Athens is ‘90s tribute band Better Than Better Than Ezra.
