The second annual Miss Juneteenth Pageant is hosted by SLay Pageants, a pageant company with the goal to empower young girls by promoting confidence, positive self-esteem and inner beauty. The company is the project of Shawania Lay, who herself was Miss Black Athens in 1986 and believes in pageants like Miss Juneteenth as safe places and sources of sisterhood and friendship for their young participants. The pageant will be hosted by Shervoski Moreland and feature a special performance from IAMTIKICA, a singer inspired by the legendary soul and R&B acts of the ‘60s and ‘70s. Audiences will have the opportunity to support each contestant as she performs a special talent, models her evening gown and shows off her personality in a question and answer session.
