In an email newsletter sent out this morning, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement announced that the AADM Bookstore and Justice Center will be closing its doors today, July 31. After operating for three years inside the Georgia Square Mall, the newsletter says that the closure is due to the mall’s redevelopment plans starting.
“We deeply appreciate the time, support and patronage that you have extended to our nonprofit bookstore during our time at Georgia Square Mall. Your involvement and dedication have been vital to our mission,” says the AADM newsletter.
The AADM Bookstore and Justice Center is currently looking for a new home with plans to re-open at some point. In the meantime, AADM will continue to operate online and host in-person meetings and events at various locations in the community. “This move represents a new chapter for us,” says the newsletter, which goes on to say that this fall the organization will be relaunching a new advocacy and education model.
