Businesses, restaurants, churches and schools around the Athens community are offering free Thanksgiving meals and various resources during the holiday week. All are welcome at these events, with an emphasis on those in need. Check the list below for offerings:
Clarke Middle School: Community Food Giveaway
Nov. 17, 4:30 p.m.
There will be a grocery giveaway in the parking lot until all food is distributed.
Athens First UMC: Thanksgiving Ingathering
Nov. 20, 5 p.m. (doors)
Enjoy a hot meal and receive an “Extra Thankful Bag” filled with Thanksgiving-inspired pantry staples.
El Paso Tacos & Tequila: First Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
Nov. 21, 3–6 p.m.
One free Thanksgiving plate per person from the Thanksgiving dinner table.
Sparrow’s Nest: Thanksgiving Feed the Hungry
Nov. 22, 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Enjoy a buffet-style lunch and receive one bag of hygiene products per person.
Weaver D’s Delicious Fine Foods: 2nd Annual Feed the Hungry Dinner
Nov. 23, 12 p.m. (gospel), 2 p.m. (dinner)
There will be a gospel celebration with singers and special guests followed by a free hot meal.
Chuck’s Fish: Annual Thanksgiving Feast
Nov. 23, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all proceeds benefitting Project Safe.
