Very little work or studying probably got done at UGA today as the university’s website and internet (now lower case thanks to the AP) access were sluggish and/or completely down.
UGA’s IT folks said the system experienced a distributed denial of service attack. I have no idea what that means, but here’s a Wikipedia article.
In their latest update at 4:12 p.m., they said they had no timetable for fixing the problem. However, the UGA website is up as of this writing.
This is how I’m sure the thousands of people on campus who just wanted to check Facebook or watch Lemonade reacted:
