At the start of the upcoming academic year, four former Clarke County public school principals will be working in the central administration office instead of in schools. Two of the principals are stepping into newly created jobs; two are replacing employees who are moving on to other positions.
Gaines Elementary’s Robert Ezekiel will become the director of assessment and accountability, a job currently held by James Barlament. Ezekiel’s salary of $102,089 is $12,394 higher than Barlament’s. Barlament will be the director of data and research.
Anita Lumpkin-Barrett, the long-time principal at Alps Road Elementary, will replace Amy Peacock as the K-8 science curriculum coordinator. Her 2018 salary of $114,547 exceeds Peacock’s by $33,936. Peacock will become the coordinator of professional learning, according to CCSD officials.
Jennifer Scott, who earned $115,061 as principal of Barnett Shoals Elementary, will be in charge of innovation and strategy. According to CCSD human resources, in her new job Scott will evaluate four principals and will also oversee Title I, Early Learning, Career Academy, ESOL, Title III, Gifted and AVID.
Utevia Tolbert earned $97,506 in 2018 as principal of Hilsman Middle School. As the special education coordinator of elementary behavior supports, she will oversee the Compass and RISE programs. These elementary behavior-focused programs have been in Cleveland Road Elementary, Gaines Elementary and Winterville Elementary.
Last month, the district hired four new principals: Bipul Singh, an assistant principal in Gwinnett County, will replace the retired Scarlett Dunne at Oglethorpe Avenue Elementary. Barnett Shoals assistant principal Aliceson Nobles was promoted to principal. So was Christopher Pendley at Clarke Middle. Coile Middle assistant principal April Braswell was named principal at Whitehead Road Elementary. Vacancies remain at Alps, Hilsman and Fowler Drive Elementary.
