A pedestrian and a cyclist were hit by cars Friday near Athens Regional Medical Center, according to Athens-Clarke County police.
Kathleen Colville, 22, a University of Georgia student from Marietta, was riding her bike eastbound on Prince Avenue at 4:56 p.m. when Albert Ligotti, 86, of Greencrest Drive, driving a Lincoln Towncar westbound on Prince Avenue, turned left onto Talmadge Drive and collided with Colville’s bike. Ligotti is the former conductor of the Athens Symphony.
Robert Richard South, 52, of Sunset Drive, was walking on Prince Avenue. As he was crossing Oglethorpe Avenue, he was hit by Sibyl Henderson, 47, of North Church Street, who was turning left onto Oglethorpe in a Ford Explorer.
South and Colville were both injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance. They were treated and released, according to ARMC spokesman Mike Pilcher. He did not provide any other information, citing federal privacy law.
Charges are pending against Henderson and Ligotti, police said Saturday.
