Flagpole Premieres: Saline, Dumb EP

Athens-based four-person rock band Saline describes its sound as “shoegrease.” Listening to the group’s debut EP, Dumb, the term starts to make some sense. A spaced-out, mid-fi blend of post-rock, nervy punk, Pinback precision and fuzzed-to-fuck guitar drama, Dumb is a promising start from a band whose live show has already begun to turn heads around town.

Says Saline’s Terence Chiyezhan:

Dumb is the product of a yearlong collaboration between friends united in the search for mad riffage and most hesh of song structures. Dumb was recorded as a Live in the Lobby at WUOG 90.5 FM and overdubbed afterwards. FFO: Hum, early Smashing Pumpkins and fuzz pedals. Mastered by Jesse Mangum at the Glow Studios.

Saline plays the Caledonia Lounge on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
