People for a Better Athens is in the final planning stages for a Rally for a Better Athens to take place on Saturday, March 3 at 3 p.m. on the steps of City Hall. We are hammering down our list of speakers to address issues of poverty, economic justice, fair labor, benefits of local businesses, and the power of protest as we carry on our fight against Selig Enterprises plans for a 95,000 sq. ft. Walmart in downtown Athens. The program will also include a diverse selection of local musicians and performers. We expect to have details pinned down in the next 48 hours. We’re hoping you can run a brief article in next week’s issue on this event–it promises to be one of the most important public events in recent memory.
