Check Out This Year’s Flagpole Athens Music Award

If you pick up a copy of this week’s print Flagpole—and you really should!—you’ll get a first glimpse at this year’s Flagpole Athens Music Award, which stands proud and tall on the new issue’s cover, surrounded by a bunch of its action-figure friends.

This year’s award artist, Athens’ Dain Marx, is well known in toy-art circles for his resin-based re-workings of figures from the Star Wars universe and beyond. His unique creative process, which he describes as “like sampling music,” led to the righteous figurines that this year’s Music Awards winners will take home.

Find Marx on Instagram at damarxtoys, and shop his catalog at buzzardguts.storenvy.com. And make your way down to the Morton Theatre Thursday evening for this year’s Music Awards show!
