Pylon Releases Live Single in Advance of Double-LP

Local post-punk legends Pylon have teamed up with Chunklet founder Henry Owings to issue a vinyl pressing of a live performance from 1983 at Athens’ Mad Hatter club, as Pylon frontwoman Vanessa Briscoe Hay told Flagpole back in January.

Recordings from the show, made by two fans “as a pilot for a potential Austin City Limits-style show called ‘Athens Shows,'” according to Bandcampwere recently rediscovered and are due out in a fancy two-LP package July 25—”on [late Pylon guitarist] Randy Bewley’s birthday,” according to a presser. The release will mark the first new Pylon recordings since the early 1990s.

Those itching for a quick fix can order a 7-inch single of two songs from the recordings, “Gravity” and “Weather Radio.” Stream “Gravity” below:

Pylon’s Vanessa Briscoe Hay has been busy of late performing with the Pylon Reenactment Society, an all-star tribute act.
