Just down the street from Krista Slater’s The Lark is Tapped Athens, which opened in January in the Bottleworks on Prince. Owned by Angela and Todd Hurt, it’s a similar combination of wine market and tasting bar, plus snacks. You can get a small or big sample from 24 bottles in the Enomatic, a self-serve wine-dispensing system that reseals bottles, allowing them to last much longer than lower-tech means.
Saturdays bring mimosas and biscuits, and Tapped hosts frequent public events as well as private events. It has a posted “suggested flight” on a chalkboard if you don’t know exactly where to get started. Don’t like wine? There’s also beer and cider. Nibbles include: meat and cheese plates from Half-Shepherd (small and large), baguettes with olive oil and baked brie with dried fruit and crackers. Tapped is open 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Saturdays.
