Due to the worsening coronavirus pandemic, the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department announced the closure of all pools and splash pads for the summer on Tuesday.
The exception is for swimming lessons, which will wrap up as scheduled this week.
In addition, Bear Hollow Zoo at Memorial Park is now closed.
Officials also changed the weekday hours at several parks. East Athens Community Center will be open Monday–Friday from 12–8 p.m. Lay Park will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12–8 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Rocksprings Park will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Weekend hours remain the same.
The changes allow staff to work staggered schedules and limit exposure to the virus.
