Dave Marr

Guitarist and songwriter Dave Marr has been an Athens scene staple since his time in the bourbon-soaked alt-country outfit Star Room Boys, which gave us two heartworn local classics: 1999’s Why Do Lonely Men & Women Want to Break Each Others’ Hearts? and 2002’s The World Just Won’t Leave You Alone. Marr—who once also served as Flagpole’s city editor—returned in 2016 with the terrific solo album We Were All in Love, which showcased his canny writing and sonorous pipes. Marr has popped up intermittently since, both on his own and with a full band. Saturday, he plays a special solo gig at the firehall on Prince Avenue. Expect holiday cheer and tears in your beer.
