Begun in 1971 as a civic revitalization effort and held annually until 2003, the Winterville Marigold Festival was brought back by a group of residents a few years ago and has once again become an energized and engaging showcase for the tiny Clarke County town’s bustling arts and culture community. Saturday’s schedule will kick off with a 10K run at 7:30 a.m. and a parade at 10 a.m., followed by an all-day lineup of live music from the likes of Five Eight, Clay Leverett, Michelle Malone, Caroline Aiken and Winterville Mayor Dodd Ferrelle. In addition, attendees can enjoy an auto show, a kids’ area and lots more. Check out the insert in this week’s Flagpole for details.
