Nosferatu

The Invincible Czars revive the 1922 German Expressionist horror classic Nosferatu with a haunting live soundtrack, offering a musical backdrop for movie-goers to appreciate the artistry of silent film. Composer Hans Erdmann intended for the film’s original score to be played by a live orchestra during the projection, and although a screening was allegedly recorded, most of the original score has been lost over time. The band resurrects the quintessential vampire film through incorporating Bela Bartok’s “Romanian Folk Dances,” reminiscent of Court Orlok’s homeland. In the past, the Austin, TX-based quintet has performed for Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Aelita Queen of Mars and Destiny (Der müde Tod).
