J. Roddy Walston and the Business, Sleepwalkers

Eclectic rockers J. Roddy Walston and the Business have toured pretty much constantly since they started out way back in the early aughts; this Friday’s Athens show will be the latest of many for the now Richmond, VA-based band. The group’s most recent outing, 2013’s Essential Tremors, combines riffy Southern rock swagger with a punkish spirit and a shake of wild-eyed, old-school soul. The Business’ high-octane live show, centered on Walston’s legendary upright piano panache, is truly something to behold. Fellow Virginians Sleepwalkers will open the show with a set of their cheeky psych-pop.
