Indie Rock Karaoke

When the students leave town for the holidays, the townies come out to play—or, in this case, sing. The concert calendar may slow down this time of year, but it’s also your best bet for happening upon strange local favorites, like the aforementioned Unsilent Night event, or the beloved Indie Rock Karaoke, which returns to Go Bar for two gigs. Former Athens resident Geoff Carr, who hosted IRK in town each week from 2004–2007, has made its pop-up return a holiday tradition in recent years. Belt your favorites by artists like Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Pavement, Tom Waits, Beck and Guided by Voices well into the night.
