The Classic City American Music Festival celebrated 10 years on Sunday at The Foundry in Athens. Twelve bands performed on two stages over the course of the afternoon and into the evening, featuring a combination of country, folk, rock, bluegrass and rockabilly sounds.
Local Americana band Grassland featured seven musicians playing covers and originals. The group kept the audience moving with its high-energy presence and musical variety. Atlanta singer-songwriter Leah Calvert performed with her band and gave the audience a great set of upbeat original tunes. Her unique voice, paired with guitarist Rick Lollar's well-done solos and drummer Marlon Patton's technical ability, kept everyone intrigued.
Kentucky band The Josephines performed for their first time in Athens, hitting the stage running with a five-piece country-rock combination. The group gave the audience a show that wouldn’t soon be forgotten with their distinctive style and hand-clapping rhythms.
Locals Broken String Band, Pickled Holler, Packway Handle Band and others performed into the night, leaving everyone with smiles on their faces.
