If you've driven down Baxter lately, you may have noticed the paper in the windows of the space next door to home.made, Mimi Maumus's catering business that currently does weekday lunch and a monthly supper club. The florist that was in the adjoining space has moved out, and home.made is moving in.
Maumus says that, in addition to more tables, her business will expand to offer lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday, plus possibly Sunday brunch, all with table service rather than the current counter-ordering system.
She says she's hoping to be done in January, and that she hasn't decided the fate of the supper clubs yet. The website also now offers an online shop where you can order cheese straws, sweet tea caramels, candied pecans and T-shirts.
Meanwhile, closings have come thick and furious, as they often do near the end of the calendar year, when restaurant owners have to decide whether or not to renew their liquor licenses:
