As any Gen X or Millennial parent knows, Star Wars is a rite of passage for children. This Saturday at 10 a.m., you can take your young ones to see The Force Awakens at a volume and lighting level appropriate for their sensitive ears and eyes (especially those with issues like ADHD, autism or anxiety).
According to Flagpole theater writer Dina Canup, she and Amanda Kapousouz worked with the newly renovated Ovation cinema on Lexington Road to set up the kid-friendly screening after local moms complained on Facebook about movies being too loud. Organizers hope kid-friendly screenings become a regular event there.
You can eat popcorn for breakfast if you want, but Ovation will be offering all-you-can-eat pancakes and French toast, too.
Tickets are $7.50 and will be sold at the box office only. It’s first-come, first-serve, but the movie may be shown on a second screen if the first one sells out.
