Slopfest returned to Little Kings Shuffle Club and Hi-Lo Lounge last weekend, with a four-day showcase of Athens' underground rock scene. Flagpole photographer Savannah Cole was on hand to capture some of the action. Check out her photos below:
Spectators gathered at Athens Arena Saturday evening for Fight Night, where local and regional boxers faced off in the ring. The event also featured an award presentation, as Athens' Keppner Boxing was named best gym in Georgia by USA Boxing.

University of Georgia students and other Athens members gathered outside UGA’s Tate Student Center Tuesday afternoon to mourn the victims of the shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue.
Eleven were left dead and six injured after the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue on Saturday. The shooting is believed to be the deadliest attack on the Jewish community in the history of the US, according to the Anti-Defamation League.
