Todd Gurley Is Suspended and It’s OK to Cry

Welp. There goes the season. Heisman Trophy candidate (until about 15 minutes ago) Todd Gurley has been suspended indefinitely, and we have no idea why. Here’s the full two-paragraph statement from the Bulldogs:

University of Georgia tailback Todd Gurley has been indefinitely suspended from competition by the UGA Athletic Association during an ongoing investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules.

“I’m obviously very disappointed,” said UGA head football coach Mark Richt. “The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri.”

Gurley, who’s rushed for 773 yards and eight touchdowns in five games, is/was ESPN’s top Heisman contender. Perhaps more importantly, he’s a four-time No. 1 in the Athens Power Rankings.

Go ahead. Let your feelings out.

Junior Keith Marshall (the other half of “Gurshall,” remember that?) and star freshman Sony Michel are both hurt, so fellow Diaper Dandy Nick Chubb is expected to start against Missouri on Saturday. He’ll be backed up by Brandon Brendan Douglas.

UPDATE: Reddit users think Gurley was selling autographs. It’s Reddit, so… maybe?

UPDATE: Of course, somebody started a WhiteHouse.gov petition to pardon TG3. Bet y’all wish you’d voted for Obama now, huh?
