ART ON THE SIDE GALLERY AND GIFTS (17 N. Main St., Watkinsville) A gallery featuring works by various artists in media including ceramics, paintings and fused glass.

ATHENS ACADEMY (1281 Spartan Lane) In the Myers Gallery, view pieces by faculty members of the University of North Georgia. Through Feb. 9. • In the Bertelsmann Lobby Gallery, see paintings by Becky Bundrick and Jaquelynn Faass as well as rustic designs by Don Bundrick of Wild Wood Works. Through Dec. 21. • In the Harrison Center Foyer Gallery, this year’s permanent exhibit “Animals: Paintings, Sculpture and Drawings” features pieces by Leigh Ellis, Caroline Montague, Leslie Moody, Jan Perkins and Alice Woodruff. 

ATHENS ART AND FRAME (1021 Parkway Blvd.) Heidi Hensley’s paintings depict colorful and eclectic scenes of Athens and UGA.

ATHENS INSTITUTE FOR CONTEMPORARY ART (ATHICA) (160 Tracy St.) The “2017 Members’ Exhibition” features works in a variety of media by current and new gallery members including Lisa Freeman, June Ball, Robert Clements, Mike Landers, Melody Croft, Timothy Adams and more. Through Jan. 14. 

AURUM STUDIOS (125 E. Clayton St.) “Twist of Light: Sculpture and Wearable Art by Noah Saunders” features works made of wire. Opening reception Dec. 9. Through January.

BENDZUNAS GLASS (89 W. South Ave., Comer) The family-run studio has been creating fine art glass for almost 40 years. 

CINÉ BARCAFÉ (234 W. Hancock Ave.) “In the Shadow of the Sea” features photographs from Cuba by Sean Dunn. Through Dec. 20.

CIRCLE GALLERY (UGA College of Environment and Design, 285 S. Jackson St.) “A Partial View: Paintings by Cecile Martin.” Through Dec. 15.

CITY OF WATKINSVILLE (Downtown Watkinsville) “Public Art Watkinsville: A Pop-up Sculpture Exhibit” consists of sculptures placed in prominent locations around downtown. Artists include Benjamin Lock, William Massey, Stan Mullins, Robert Clements, Harold Rittenberry and Joni Younkins-Herzog. • “Artscape Oconee: The Monuments of Artland” features a total of 20 paintings on panels installed around town. Artists include Claire Clements, Peter Loose, Andy Cherewick, Lisa Freeman, Manda McKay and others.

THE CLASSIC CENTER (300 N. Thomas St.) “Warm Days, Cool Nights” celebrates summer vibes through Ariel Lockshaw’s pool paintings, Frances Berry’s minimal golden hour photos, Wade Sheldon’s nautical night skies and Hannah Ehrlich’s cloud compositions. Through December. • Jackie Dorsey’s solo exhibition in Gallery II features watercolor portraits of musicians, artists, chefs and other familiar faces of Athens. Through December.

CREATURE COMFORTS BREWING CO. (271 W. Hancock Ave.) “Athens Art Prints” features 33 of the 50+ artists who use Pixel & Ink Studio’s reproduction service by the same name. Event Dec. 14. Currently on view through Jan. 7.

DONDEROS’ KITCHEN (590 N. Milledge Ave.) Images by the Athens Photography Guild. Through December.

FLICKER THEATRE & BAR (263 W. Washington St.) Paintings by Stephanie Grey Reavis. Through December.

GALLERY@HOTEL INDIGO (500 College Ave.) “Magical Mystery Tour” toys with surreal psychedelia through artwork by Jaime Bull, Dana Haugaard, Brian Hitselberger, Jourdan Joly, Jacob Wenzka and Orion Wertz. Through Jan. 13.

GEORGIA MUSEUM OF ART (90 Carlton St.) “Louise Blair Daura: A Virginian in Paris” includes paintings, drawings and prints. Through Dec. 10. • “Martha Odum: Art Intersects Ecology” shares paintings and silver by Odum in celebration of the UGA School of Ecology’s 50th anniversary. Through Dec. 31. • “Muse: Mickalene Thomas Photographs and tête-à-tête” shares over 40 works by the acclaimed African American artist. Through Jan. 7. • “Artful Instruments: Georgia Gunsmiths and Their Craft.” Through Feb. 25.

GLASSCUBE@INDIGO (500 College Ave.) Lucha Rodriguez’s site-specific installation, “Amorphous Dislocations of Ultramarine,” incorporates handout paper, translucent color film and LED lights for a floating display that changes color. Through April.

HEART PATH STUDIO (160 Tracy St., Suite 2C) Barbara Odil creates fascinating assemblages out of natural and found materials like seed pods, wood, cacti, shells and bones. Through January.

HEIRLOOM CAFE & FRESH MARKET (815 N. Chase St.) Mary Ann Cox offers “Mementos,” recent works with themes of nostalgia and all things vintage. Through December.

JUST PHO…AND MORE (1063 Baxter St.) “Stilled Life” includes drawings and paintings by Emily Morrison and Mikaila Guerra. 

KA ARTIST SHOP (127 N. Jackson St.) “Home, for the Holidays” is a group exhibition sharing works that remind the artists of home. Currently on view through Jan. 15. Reception Dec. 17.

LAMAR DODD SCHOOL OF ART (270 River Rd.) “BFA 2: Graphic Design, Art X, Sculpture, Art Education.” On view Dec. 7–14. Closing reception Dec. 14. 

LOWERY GALLERY (2400 Booger Hill Rd., Danielsville) The gallery celebrates “24 Years of Art” with Giclee prints, originals, photographs and sculptures by over 24 artists including Claire Clements, Ben Rouse, Peter Loose, Kip Ramey and more.

LYNDON HOUSE ARTS CENTER (293 Hoyt St.) The Clarke County School District Student Art Exhibition’s theme this year is “Connect.” Through Jan. 13. • “Resonating Destinations” features mixed media works by Jim Wilson. Dec. 9–Mar. 3. 

MADISON MORGAN CULTURAL CENTER (434 S. Main St., Madison) A partnership between the Madison Artists Guild and the Morgan County Primary School, “Farm” celebrates the agrarian lifestyle of the rural South through paintings, photography and sculpture. Through Jan. 4.

MAMA’S BOY (197 Oak St.) Susan Pelham’s collages are influenced by Magic Realism and Surrealism.

RICHARD B. RUSSELL JR. SPECIAL COLLECTIONS LIBRARIES (300 S. Hull St.) “Covered with Glory: Football at UGA, 1892–1917.” Through Dec. 22. • “Wrestling Temptation: The Quest to Control Alcohol in Georgia.” Through Sept. 21, 2018.

SOUTHERN BREWING COMPANY (231 Collins Industrial Blvd.) Anna Lee Shultz’s paintings are inspired by science and nature, and often combine plants and insects with geometric designs. Opening reception Dec. 7. Through December.

TRIO CONTEMPORARY ART GALLERY (766 W. Broad St.) “Specter” explores folklore, fantasy and fear through works by Timi Conley, James Greer, Ed James, Andrew Shearer, Ali Norman and many more. Through Dec. 9.

UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST FELLOWSHIP OF ATHENS (780 Timothy Rd.) “The Road to the White House: Election 2008,” created by Lawrence Romorini, commemorates the presidential campaign and election through over 150 photographs, publications and three-dimensional souvenirs. Dec. 9.

VERONICA’S SWEET SPOT (149 Oneta St., #6C6) See work by local and regional artists, craftsmen, potters and sculptors.
